The 7 Mile Stretch Project

About the Project

I’ve been a resident of Alexandria since June of 2016. It’s an incredibly diverse city by my observation.

With this project, my intention is to capture the many various, interesting people and places of Alexandria along the 7 mile stretch from where I live, down to the Old Town Waterfront; a trajectory along Duke Street. The desire is to capture the essence of what I actually see in Alexandria through my own eyes, my own perception and senses. My work commenced on April 13, 2021 and will last throughout the end of the year at which point I will begin turning it into a zine which I will publish online and make limited print copies of. The project will be shot on digital and analog film, through wind, rain, scorching sun, cold (and if we get it this year - snow).

Below is a glimpse of The 7 Mile Stretch project.

Note: If you are a participant of this project you may contact me directly if you’d like to set up a specific portrait shoot and share your story for the zine version of this project. Thank you. Iggy (April 13, 2021)
